Honolulu, Hawaii — Derek Akiyoshi has been appointed regional chief executive officer for the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation, Oahu Region. He has served as interim CEO since December 2013.
Previously, Akiyoshi served as Administrator at Maluhia. Akiyoshi also serves as the Vice Chair of the Healthcare Association of Hawaii (HAH) Long Term Care Division.
“The Oahu Region is appreciative that Mr. Akiyoshi has agreed to help lead the us through a very challenging period – preparing for the implementation of health reform, addressing the trends in long-term care which affect the most vulnerable members of our aging population groups and effectively responding to the increased need for safety net services in an evolving and uncertain fiscal environment,” said HHSC Oahu Region Board Chair Patricia O’Hagan, Ph.D.
